Just got back from Aqeedah class... on the last pages from Al-'Aqeedah Al-Waasitiyyah' (author: Syaikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, commentaries: Sheikh Ibn al-'Uthaymeen & Dr. Soleh al-Fawzaan).
Some characteristics of Ahl al-Sunnah wa Al-Jamaah: excellent akhlaq (the internal) and practices (the external)... as mentioned in the hadith: "The most complete faith among the believers is the one with the best akhlaq" [Ahmad, al-Tirmidhi & Abu Dawud]. Forcing myself to practice these words... huh, susahnya nak jadi budak baik... and remember, the real beauty lies within your character, not the physical appearance (its given by God... you can't do nothing about it!)... made me to recall the story of Fatimah bint Qays, when Abu al-Jahm and Mu'awiyyah asked her for marriage, she went to the Messenger of Allah and asked his opinion... which he favours Usamah ibn Zayd, both his father and mother (Zayd ibn Harithah & Umm Ayman) were slaves... not-so-good-looking, but his akhlaq excels many others, alas he is the beloved of the beloved of the Messenger of Allah. Fatimah (of the noble Quraisy) married Usamah, and had a happy life together with him...
Hmm... still, kalau ada peluang, nak laa yang ada dua-dua (batin & zahir). However kena beringat, agama jua yang akan berkekalan dan penentu bahagia di dunia & akhirat...
